It was an important Mayan port between the 13th and 16th centuries. This magical town has the only Mayan ruins on the edge of the Caribbean Sea and is surrounded by the most beautiful crystalline beaches and jungle abundant in fine wood trees, such as mahogany, cedar and chicle. The climate is warm and the average temperature is 26° C, classic for medium and low jungles.
